Harpenden’s spacious tree-lined high street is bristling with shops and cafes. The town has three supermarkets and a number of good eating places and pubs. Harpenden, a Fairtrade town since 2008, has a vibrant farmer’s market every fourth Sunday of the month, offering a delicious array of colourful fruit and vegetables. It is held along Bowers Parade, just off the high street. Harpenden railway station is on the Midland Main Line with regular services to London St Pancras and northbound to Bedford, Kettering, Corby, Melton Mowbray, Leicester, Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield.


Luton, just 11 minutes drive away has an excellent range of amenties including a vibrant shopping centre with a good range of shops including butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers, hairdressers, supermarkets and eating places. Luton station on the Midland Main Line has regular northbound services to Bedford, Kettering, Corby, Melton Mowbray, Leicester, Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield and southbound services to London.


Welwyn Garden City, England’s second garden city (founded in 1920) and just 25 minutes drive away from King’s Heath has an excellent range of shops, supermarkets, stores and other amenties. The railway station has regular train services to London King's Cross and London Moorgate and north to Stevenage, Hitchin, Cambridge and Peterborough. The town is well-served by major arterial road routes, namely the A1(M) and the A414.

  • The Ashridge Estate consists of 5,000 acres of woodland, chalk downlands and lush meadows. You can walk for miles and see a variety of wildlife such as Fallow deer and Muntjacs as well as the more common, foxes, badgers and squirrels. 12 miles
